Something that I don't understand...

Recently, a YouTuber that I quite like finally posted a new video, after like 6 months without having any news from him.
Before that, he also took a lot of time before uploading a video (like 5 months), while he would submit new videos on his channels every two weeks, or at least once per month.

After posting that video, he posted another video explaining what was going on and why it took so much time. And he did the same with the previous video. And on both explaining videos, he says that he just had to get out of the Internet for a moment. Why?

Well because he wanted to make a great video. Something that he would like to do. And he explains that if he enjoyed making this video, then people would probably like it as well. However, he was a bit depressed for not finding ideas, which is why it took some time at first. But the thing that really killed his mood is that a lot of people who watch his videos and love it actually insulted him directly because it was taking too long. And even if he said he didn't pay attention to these insults, it still didn't give him any motivation to continue. So he just cut off with the Internet for a moment to get some inspiration and motivation back, and it worked, because his last video was good.

But you understand that what I want to talk about here is the fact that a fan can feel free to insult someone who is doing great things just because it's taking them longer then usual to do their thing.

Like you all, I have a lot of people that I like, whenever they make videos, comics, etc. But I don't understand why would I insult them? They are doing something that I just love to watch/read, why would I be disrespectful toward them because they take longer then it should to do their thing.

I saw that happening to someone I watch here on DeviantArt (won't name this person, but they are drawing a super nice fan comic). On a page, this person apologized because their new page was longer to do, due to personnal problems and other issues. I then saw one comment who apparently loves the comic but still this person was nearly yelling at the artist because it took him a long moment (if you can call a week "long" :roll: ). And at that moment, I kinda felt that it was my duty to remind to the artist that he was a human being who had the right to have personnal issues and that he didn't even have to apologize.

Don't worry, I can as well get a bit impatient and just can't wait for the next video/comic that I will watch/read. I'm a fan of a lot of things, I'm just super excited to see what's next. But still I don't get why we should just throw our impatience back to the creator's face by insutling him or yelling at him.

So, whenever you like someone's work (can be a video, an animation, a story, a comic, whatever...) remember a few things;

1. The creator is, just like you, a human being, having a life, which like yours includes personnal issues. This person have the right be late on their project for many many many reasons; maybe they are having personnal issues, like going through a depression or something, maybe they are having a lack of inspiration or motivation, maybe they are having a lack of time due to their school or their job, maybe they are having a lack of money if their project requires it, etc... they can have many valid reasons. And by insulting them, you aren't helping them at all, you are at best doing nothing at all, you are at worst bringing them down and make them feel bad about themselves.

2. A video/comic coming late isn't the end of the world. Yeah, I don't really like waiting for some things neither, but waiting for something isn't going to kill you. Also, the creator is (most of the time) creating their thing for themselves before creating that for you, whenever they are doing this out of passion or just to earn some money. It's their project, not yours, so at the end it isn't really a big deal for you, even if it's your favorite stuff.

3. Dude, you are insulting someone that you admire! What is wrong with you?! :iconjackiechanmemeplz:

So, yeah, if a project that you like is taking some time to come out, just think about that before making yourself look like a jerk. Thanks.

Yeah, a lot of the time people on the internet think their anonymity allows them to say whatever the heck they want and get away with it. And i think most YouTubers know this and just move on, but I see what you're saying. It certainly doesn't help to motivate them. Nor does it make it right to insult someone. I wish people would just understand that. -_-

Oh, and that sounds like a certain YouTuber i know. Would this anonymous person happen to be an ECHceptional person with a robotic bird named Jacques? :)
